After completion of the first layer of planking the small space in the bow was filed with two pieces of balsa and sanded down to shape. Then work on the deck was started by gluing on the deck frames. |
The hatch was constructed and internal panels stained using the stain provided with the kit then varnished and inserted. The manual recommends to just paint the front and rear cockpit floors gray, but as I wanted to add a "none slip look" I first covered the cockpit floors with 320 Grit Wet and dry sandpaper then painted them gray this add as more realistic none slip look. |
At this stage I deviate from the progress stages listed in the manual and decided to install the drive shaft, rudder block and ruder shaft and also make the rudder. After this the entire deck and frames were sealed with varnish and then the deck and hatch were planked. |
