Manufacturers comments:
Müritz model presents an opportunity to build the whole wooden classic kit.
The classic construction features a strip-planked hull.
Model Müritz can be either RC equipped with a two-channel radio or built for display purposes
only.
The kit consists of high quality die-cut balsa-wood and plywood parts
(e.g. a kel, keel ribs, a cabin), high quality spruce sticks for planking, a spruce mast, a
shaft with a bushing, a clear urethane finish material for the cabin, benches, fittings,
a drawing and building instructions.
My comments:
Since I started model boating I have always wanted to get involved in building wooden model boats and of course ultimately scratch building.
I decide to get into this on step at the time, so I am going to build a couple of wooden boats provide in kit format then progress to scratch building.
I purchased the Muritz back in October 2000 at the Prague hobby fair for about eros 70
But did not touch it as I wanted to finish the other models I was working on first.
One of the reason I choose this model was it seemed the easiest of the three Teltech manufactured
at the time.
Teltech (a Czech based company) mainly a producer model aero planes have recently update their
website and unfortunately have no more links to any information about the boats they produced,
but I still see them for sale in the local hobby shops.
The box content was a follows::
3x A1 plans.
2z A4 instruction sheets.
All precut wooden parts (all numbered) mainly good quality ply .
4 pieces of 1mm ply 10mm x 640mm to cover the sides and bottom of the hull.
1x sheet of 1mm Perspe, 10mmx20mm.
1x Prop shaft
1x 3 bladed (Red) Plastic prop
The original instructions were in Czech language (sorry to say still mot my strong point)
but after contacting Teltech they were able to provide me with a copy in English.
According to the instructions the model is really intended for those modelers with some
previous model building experience (in my view that has to be in wooden boats) as not much
of my experience gained after building two model boats (one GRP and the other ABS) has really
done me much good so far. I personally think that it would have nice to have more detailed
instructions.
To see how far the model has progressed take a look at
the Müritz building gallery,
(Updated: 30.01.05)
